Why Conservatives Are Full of Shit #4

Cons are always bitching about getting rid of illegal aliens. I personally think that many of them are racists, but whatever. Now, thanks to lunatics like Michelle Bachmann, many of these same people are refusing to complete their census forms because they believe this nonsense about the government using this information in some sort of nefarious manner. Again, whatever, but the larger point that escapes these morons is that if we are going to find out the extent of the illegal "problem", accurate census data would be necessary to that endeavor. Not surprising, since their whole ideology is based on hypocrisy and contradiction.

Robert Novak Separated at Birth

I know this is late but didn't Novak look a lot like the villain from Underdog, Simon Bar Sinister?

"Death Panels"

Why Conservatives Are Full of Shit #2

Sarah Palin is regarded as a party leader, rather than an incoherent, lying, self-serving joke.

Why Conservatives Are Full of Shit #1

Seeing as how there are many examples of this, this will be a regular feature of my blog. I think a good place to start would be with that patron Saint of conservative ideology, Ronald Reagan. He once said, "government is not the solution to our problem; government is the problem." I always thought it was a strange statement coming from the titular head of our government. It would be akin to the Pope saying that Catholicism was the problem. Being a recovered Catholic, I would whole-heartedly agree with such a statement, but unfortunately, it would never happen. Right-wingers would probably point to this statement as evidence of the Gipper's revolutionary thinking or an example of him speaking truth to ... himself? It was a bizarre thing for a president to say. "Government" is not inherently evil, in fact, government is us. It is a fluid entity that can be changed, and Ronnie was in a unique position to do just that. Instead, he did what most cons end up doing, governing badly. Wouldn't governing badly be in the best interests of cons, whose major core principle is that government is bad? A cursory review of the previous administration's record overwhelmingly proves my point.

Cyril Wecht personally called to thank me for this one. That was pretty cool, and he seemed like a nice guy. It is hard to get a word in with him though. The guy likes to speak in Faulknerianly dense monologues.

I Need to Get a Life

I'm watching Tori Spelling on Larry King. Larry is asking her about sex. Is there an emoticon for shuddering?
